  • [01] General approach reached at TTE Council on slots at EU airports

EU Transport Ministers, following a dynamic debate on the basis of the Presidency's compromise proposals, reached a general approach in the proposal for a Regulation on common rules for the allocation of slots at European Union airports, which aims to optimise the use of airport capacity.

The general approach was reached during the EU Transport, Telecommunications and Energy (TTE) Council, which took place in Luxembourg under the Cyprus EU Presidency.

In addition, the Council reached a general approach on the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC - 2006) Enforcement Package which consists of two legislative proposals laying down the responsibilities of flag states, on the one hand, and port states, on the other.

[02] CMP third member to assume duties soon

The third member of the Committee for Missing Persons (CMP), Paul Henri Arni from Switzerland, is expected to assume his duties soon, probably within this week, President of the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees and Missing Persons Skevi Koutra Koukouma said on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion of today's Cyprus Missing Persons Day, Koukouma expressed hope that procedures aiming to ascertain the fate of missing persons will be speeded up.

Moreover, the Cypriot MP said that the CMP Anthropological Laboratory has employed two more anthropologists, as well as two experienced geneticists who will train their younger colleagues.
