[01] Defence Minister: Cyprus supports EU initiatives on maritime
environment
Cyprus, an EU member on the outer boundaries of the European Union, with
maritime interests, supports EU initiatives īn maritime environment,
Minister of Defence Demetris Eliades has said.
Eliades was addressing a seminar entitled "Europe initiative in the
Maritime Environment - Future Capabilities Technologies and Civil-
Military Synergies", co-organized in Nicosia by the Ministry of Defence
and the European Defence Agency under the Cyprus Presidency of the
Council of the EU.
The Minister said, inter alia, that the Cyprus Presidency gave special
emphasis to the EU Integrated Maritime Policy (EU-IMP) which is an
important tool in meeting the objectives of Europe 2020 Strategy.
