[01] Ambassador Zodiatis talks about first three months of Cyprus at
the helm of COREPER I
Three months have passed since the Republic of Cyprus took the helm of the
Council of the EU. In statements to CNA from Brussels, Deputy Permanent
Representative of Cyprus to the EU, Ambassador George Zodiatis, who chairs
the Committee of Permanent Representatives I (COREPER I), referred to the
agreements achieved with the European Parliament and those the Presidency
has signed on behalf of the EU with Greenland and Sri Lanka.
Zodiates said that during the first three months of the Presidency,
the EU's bilateral aviation relations with Sri Lanka were further
strengthened, with the signing of the Agreement between the European
Union and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri
Lanka on certain aspects of air services.
In addition, the Deputy Permanent Representative has signed the Protocol
setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided
for in the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Community
and Greenland.
