[03] Juvenes Translatores awards presented in BrusselsEuropean Commissioner responsible for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Androulla Vassiliou presented Tuesday in Brussels the awards to the winners of the 2011 Young Translators competition (Juvenes Translatores).The contest launched in 2007, is a translation contest for secondary school pupils in the European Union (EU) organised by the European Commission`s Directorate-General for Translation (DGT). Cypriot Eliana Hadjiandreou who studies at the Makarios High School in Nicosia, outperformed the other young translators in Cyprus and received her award together with other winners from the remaining 26 member states. In her speech, the Cypriot Commissioner congratulated all pupils, saying that they outperformed 3,000 other talented competitors.
