  • [01] President expresses hope that 2012 will be a better year for Cyprus

President of the Republic, Demetris Christofias, wished on Friday that 2012 will bring better times for Cyprus, along with a proper solution of the Cyprus problem and economic recovery.

Christofias noted that 2011 has been one of the most difficult years in the history of the island.

The President was speaking after the Band of the Police, the National Guard and the Hellenic Forces in Cyprus (ELDYK), sang New Years Carols, at the Presidential Palace.

During the last eleven years of the new millennium peoples do not live in peace and prosperity, Christofias said, adding that dozens of children die each day of hunger, diseases, lack of water and other elements necessary for survival.

Christofias wished that social justice will prevail in the world, in 2012.
