Cyprus Finance Minister Kikis Kazamias assured Friday that the islands
finances are not at risk in the near future and the government is
continuing contacts to bring more cash into the states coffers.
He told reporters during a press conference that Cyprus was capable of
meetings its obligations to foreign lenders.
``I refute that sources of funding for the state have dried up. It`s a
fact that there is a comparably more adverse situation than what
existed in recent years .. but I want to emphasise right now the state
is not running any risk as far as its liquidity position is
concerned,`` Kazamias told reporters.
He was speaking as the House of Representatives was scheduled to
discuss Friday afternoon the first package of austerity measures which
includes seven bills aiming at fiscal consolidation. The 750 million
