    The Prime Minister of Serbia Mirko Cvetkovic will pay an official visit to Cyprus from June 5-7.

    The official welcoming ceremony will take place on Monday at the Presidential Palace, where Cvetkovic will be welcomed by President Demetris Christofias.

    Later on Christofias and Cvetkovic will have a tete-a-tete meeting, followed by official talks between delegations of the two governments.

    After that the Sebian Prime Minister will sign the visitors book and he and Christofias will make statements to the press.

    Christofias will host an official lunch for Cvetkovic. In the afternoon the Serbian Prime Minister will have a meeting with House President Yiannakis Omirou.

    In the evening, the Ambassador of Serbia to Cyprus Savo Djurica will give a reception in honour of Cvetkovic.

    On Tuesday the Serbian Prime Minister will attend and address the opening of the Cyprus-Serbia Business Forum, at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

    Later on he will meet with Archbishop Chrysostomos II.

    He leaves on Tuesday evening.

    During the visit, Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia Dusan Petrovic will have a meeting with Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides, while Head of the Serbian Governments EU Integration Office Milica Delevic will meet Head of the Secretariat of Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2012 Andreas Moleskis and Director of the Foreign Ministry Division of European Union and Economic Affairs Ambassador Tasos Tzionis.

    [02] PRESIDENT CHRISTOFIAS - HOUSE PRESIDENT - MEETING

    The President of the Republic, Demetris Christofias, has received the new President of the House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou, elected to the post by the House plenary on Thursday.

    In his statements after the meeting, Omirou said that he will aim to have a harmonious, smooth, institutional and political cooperation with the President of the Republic, to serve the interests of the people of Cyprus and society at large.

    [03] CYPRUS - UNEMPLOYMENT

    Cyprus unemployment rate rose by 3,3% on a monthly basis in May 2011 and by 26,6 in comparison with May 2010, according to data released on Friday by Cyprus Statistical Service.

    The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of May 2011, reached 26.050 persons. Based on the seasonally adjusted data that shows the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for May 2011 recorded an increase of 3,3% compared to the previous month and reached 28.375 persons.

    [04] CYPRIOT SCIENTIST - US - AWARD

    US Ambassador to Cyprus Frank Urbancic presented on Friday Dr. Philippos Patsalis with an award of the Department of State Office of Alumni Affairs.

    Speaking during the award ceremony, here today, Urbancic said that Patsalis` discovery of a non-invasive test for Down Syndrome has received worldwide recognition as a milestone in maternal health.

    He said that Patsalis` discovery, which promises to benefit perspective parents around the world, exemplifies how that process can result in outcomes that have a truly global impact, far beyond the borders of our two countries.
