    President of the Republic Demetris Christofias is to travel to Warsaw Sunday for an EU Presidency Trio Meeting with Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk and Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Rasmussen.

    According to an official announcement here today, President Christofias is due to have a working lunch with his two counterparts on Monday after which the three leaders will give a joint Press conference.

    Then President Christofias will have separate meetings with the Polish Prime Minister and Polands Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz.

    The President will be accompanied by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nicholas Aimiliou, Head of the Secretariat of the Cyprus EU Presidency Andreas Moleskis, Ambassador of Cyprus to Poland Popi Avraam and his Diplomatic Office officer Andrea Petranyi.

    He departs from Warsaw to return to Cyprus Monday afternoon.

    [02] MINISTER OF DEFENCE MISSING PERSON - FUNERAL

    The remains of Michalakis Michael who had been missing since the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, were buried on Saturday, having been found through the work of the Committee on Missing Persons and identified by DNA.

    Michael, 19 at that time, joined the National Guard in 1973 and had been missing since the second phase of the invasion.

    Speaking at the funeral, Defense Minister Costas Papacostas reaffirmed that President of the Republic Demetris Christofias is determined to continue to struggle for a just and viable solution of the Cyprus problem, adding that we are ready to take initiatives for a solution that will reunite the country.

    Papacostas noted that having our national solidarity as a shield we can claim whatever belongs to us, sending also a message to the young generation that no longer must it stand as the hopeless victim of our history.
