[01] PRESIDENT - EROGLU - MEETINGPresident Demetris Christofias has described as good Wednesday`s meeting with the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Dervis Eroglu, in the context of the ongoing UN-led peace talks.Speaking after the talks at the UN Protected area in Nicosia, President Christofias stated that Eroglu responded to the Greek Cypriot proposals on the federal police force, the federal police units and the joint investigation authority. I cant say that we have agreed, but I think the prospects are not that bad and with more discussion on the matter I believe we could come to an agreement on the issue,`` he added. [02] FM CYPRUS - NICARAGUA - MEETINGCyprus and Nicaragua signed on Wednesday a memorandum of political deliberations between their Ministries of Foreign Affairs and a cooperation agreement on tourism.The two agreements were signed here by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries Marcos Kyprianou and Samuel Santos Lopez, who had previously a tete-a tete meeting and official talks in the presence of their respective delegations. Kyprianou and Lopez discussed bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as the Cyprus problem while later on they were due to exchange views on the situation in North Africa and the Middle East. Speaking through an interpreter, Lopez expressed his countrys position in favour of Cyprus reunification through dialogue, and noted that historically Cyprus and Nicaragua have always been together and Cyprus had always helped Nicaragua during difficult periods in its history. With regard to the relations between the two countries, he referred to the two agreements, noting that in tourism Cyprus has achieved miracles as each year tourists visiting the island are three times more than the countrys population. This is a great success and it seems that you have all the required knowledge about this sector which we want you to share with usť, he added. He said that there are expectations for Cypriot businessmen to invest in Nicaragua, which is one of the most secure states in Central America, as he noted. [03] MINISTER - HUMAN TRAFFICKINGProgress has been made in recent years to tackle the problem of human trafficking in Cyprus but more needs to be done, Minister of the Interior Neoclis Sylikiotis has noted.The Minister was addressing Wednesday a one-day conference which opened in Nicosia entitled ``the Changing Facets of Trafficking in Human Beings: Challenges and Policy Developments``. The conference is co-organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, the Embassy of the United States of America and the British High Commission. The Minister of Interior in his speech referred to the prevention efforts made by the government of Cyprus to address the problem of human trafficking in Cyprus, adding that those efforts have been acknowledged on international and European level. ``But despite the progress we have achieved, we remain vigilant since we are aware that human trafficking is a crime with many faces``, he underlined.
