    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus has announced that, due to the violent clashes in Egyptian towns, it advises Cypriot citizens currently in Egypt to avoid areas where demonstrations are being staged.

    It also advises the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who intend to travel to Egypt to refrain from doing so, due to the situation in the country.

    [02] KYPRIANOU - GAERC

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcos Kyprianou will be participating in the General Affairs and External Relations Council of the EU, which will take place in Brussels on January 31.

    In the framework of External Relations Council, the Ministers will discuss the situation in Tunisia, Belarus, Lebanon, Cote d`Ivoire, Sudan, Iran and the Sahel area. EU relations with its strategic partners, with emphasis on Russia, as well as religious freedom issues, are also on the agenda.

    The General Affairs Council will discuss the programme of the Hungarian Presidency, as well as EU strategies for the Roma and the Danube region. It will also discuss the follow-up to the December 2010 European Council and preparations for the February 2011 European Council, which is dedicated to energy and innovation.

    Furthermore, there will be a presentation by the Presidency of the Annual Growth Survey, which marks the beginning of the European Semester on the coordination of fiscal policy, as well as the Presidency`s Road Map.
