[01] EUROSTAT - CYPRUS - UNEMPLOYMENT
Unemployment in Cyprus in November 2010 rose to 7,2% compared to 7,1%
in October, Eurostat announced.
According to figures released in Brussels, male unemployment in
November was 7,0%, recording no variation as to October 2010, whereas
female unemployment recorded an increase and was estimated at 7,4%
compared to 7,3% in October 2010.
Unemployment among young people (under 25) in September 2010 was
19,5%.
[02] MARCOULLIS - YEAR OF ROAD SAFETY
Minister of Communications and Works and Chairman of the Road Safety
Council Erato Kozakou Marcoullis declared 2011 as Year of Road Safety
against driving under the influence of alcohol, with the motto Driving
and alcohol do not match: Say no to alcohol.
During the closing ceremony of the Year of Road Safety for young people
(2010), Markoullis said that in 2010 the implementation of a 6-year
Strategic Plan for Road Safety in Cyprus (2005-2010) was completed.
At the same time the preparation of a new Strategic Plan for the period
2012-2020 is underway.
