[01] HOUSE COMMONS YOUNG CYPRUS ISSUE
Leader of the House of Commons Sir George Young has expressed his
support for a just and lasting settlement of the Cyprus problem.
The issue was brought up by Conservative MP David Burrowes (Enfield,
Southgate) who called for a statement from the British government
following a meeting in New York between the UN Secretary-General and
the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities.
Burrowes expressed his support for a just and lasting settlement that
will reunite the island of Cyprus.
Replying to Burrowes, the Leader of the House of Commons said that the
government supports a just and lasting settlement
