    Minister of Justice and Public Order Loucas Louca has described a drug squad confiscation of 20 kilos of cannabis and a suspect`s arrest in the Paphos district as a huge success, noting that the operation was carried out after a tip off.

    He said the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) had been working on the case for several weeks and managed to make an arrest on Friday, and is searching for two other suspects.

    Louca said the Police are aware of the identity of the suspects and that the drugs were imported by mail.

    The arrested suspect was expected to be taken before the Paphos District Court on Saturday for a remand order.

    [02] CYPRUS - CORPORATE

    Cyprus is taking important steps in the field of corporate registration, which will further encourage foreign investment and make Cyprus even more attractive to small and medium size companies worldwide, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides said on Saturday.

    Addressing the symposium ``Metalaxis of Corporate Registration Mechanisms in Cyprus``, Paschalides said efforts today are more dynamic and systematic than ever, in order to achieve the eradication of unnecessary bureaucracy and time consuming procedures.

    He added that his Ministry, through the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver, performs a key role in the development of business activity and commercial growth, noting that the time needed to register a company was recently reduced to a few days.

    Paschalides said great importance is attributed to the introduction of a new system of e-filing and e-search, adding that, in the legislative field, several important legislations have been passed in recent years.
