Defending Middle East Rally Champion Nasser Al-Attiyah holds the early lead in the FxPro Cyprus Rally, which forms an official round of both the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the 2010 FIA Middle East Rally Championship.

Andreas Mikkelsen, one of the pre-event favourites, was out before this mornings first special stage had even begun.

Al-Attiyah is battling to retain his regional title and, with ten points separating him from fellow Qatari and Championship leader Misfer Al-Marri, Al-Attiyah is keen to take maximum points away from Cyprus.

The Qatari held the overall lead for the days first three special stages, but it was Czech Martin Prokop who set the early pace in his Ford Fiesta S2000. Defending Cypriot champion Nicos Thomas was third fastest in his Peugeot 207 S2000.
