[01] PRESIDENTIAL COMMISSIONER - PROPERTY ISSUE
No significant progress has been achieved as regards to the property
issue during the ongoing UN-led negotiations for the past six months,
said Presidential Commissioner Giorgos Iakovou.
In an interview with the London Greek Radio, he said that at the
beginning of the negotiations, which have been underway since 2008 when
Mehmet Ali Talat was the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community,
progress was made on the issues of governance, economy and EU matters.
The discussion of the admittedly difficult issue of property started at
the same time as the new Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu came to
power earlier this year, he said, adding that no significant progress
had been achieved as differences on issues of principle came up.
