  • [01] CYPRUS-DENMARK - DOUBLE TAXATION AVOIDANCE AGREEMENT

    An Agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and the Kingdom of Denmark for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to taxes on income, was signed on Monday in Copenhagen.

    According to an official announcement, the Agreement was signed by the Cypriot Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, George C. Kasoulides and Tax Minister of Denmark, Troels Lund Poulsen.

    It is added that on the date the new Agreement enters into force, the provisions of the existing Convention between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark will expire.

    [02] BRITISH CYPRIOT SHARES NOBEL OF ECONOMICS

    A British Cypriot Professor of Economics is among the scientists who won this year`s Nobel of Economics.

    According to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, US professors Peter Diamond and Dale Mortensen and British-Cypriot citizen Christopher Pissarides won the 2010 economics Nobel for work focusing on problems like unemployment.

    The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for 2010 to Peter A. Diamond, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, Dale T. Mortensen, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA, and Christopher A. Pissarides, London School of Economics and Political Science, UK for their analysis of markets with search frictions.
