[01] RUSSIAN PRESIDENT - STATE VISIT TO CYPRUS

An official welcoming ceremony will be held at the Presidential Palace Thursday morning.

The tete-a-tete meeting, at the Presidential Palace, will be followed by official talks and statements to the press. The two Presidents will sign an Action Plan, bilateral agreements and memoranda.

The Russian President will also meet President of the House of Representatives Marios Garoyian and the primate of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos II.

Christofias and Medventev will address a Business Forum, organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Russian Chamber of Commerce, the Cyprus-Russia Business Association and the Cyprus-Russia Friendship Association.

Later on Christofias and Medvedev will inaugurate the offices of the Nicosia-based Russian Commercial Bank.

In the evening, President Christofias will host a state banquet in honour of President Medvedev. The Cypriot President will decorate his Russian counterpart with the Grand Collar of the Order of Makarios III.

The Russian President, who is accompanied by a multi-party delegation, leaves Thursday night.
