Cyprus secured a stunning 4-4 draw with Portugal in Guimaraes for the
opening match of the Euro 2012 qualifying round.
The Cypriot team took an early lead with Stathis Aloneftis (3`), with
Hugo Almeida equalizing for the Portuguese team five minutes later.
Michalis Constantinou placed once more Cyprus in the lead in the 11th
minute, with Raul Meireles leveling again in the 29th minute.
In the second half, Danny gave Portugal a 3-2 lead (50th minute) only
to be equalized again by Cyprus` Giannakis Okkas seven minutes later.
Manuel Fernandes placed once more the Portuguese team ahead with a
60-minute goal, but Andreas Avraam`s 87-minute goal leveled the score,
securing Cyprus` first away draw in the matches with Portugal.
Cyprus will face Norway at home on October 8.
