    Vice President of Equator Lenin Voltaire Moreno Garces has assured that his government will continue to show active interest in and support for the solution of the Cyprus issue.

    According to an official announcement issued here Tuesday, receiving the credentials of Cyprus` new Ambassador to Equator Vassilis Philippou, based in Mexico City, Moreno Garces underlined the support of his government to the new initiative of President Demetris Christofias to submit proposals to accelerate the negotiating process and said that the solution of the Cyprus issue must be based on UN resolutions and international law.

    Philippou conveyed President Christofias wishes to the government and the people of Equator and thanked them for the steady support and solidarity of Equator to the Cyprus issue.

    The Ambassador also briefed Moreno Garces about the course of negotiations and the Presidents package of proposals.
