  • [01] SPOKESMAN EROGLU

Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou expressed regret over Turkish Cypriot Leader Dervis Eroglu public announcement of his intention to request the intensification of negotiations without discussing it first during the leaders meeting Tuesday morning.

In a written statement issued Tuesday evening, Stephanou says we express our regret because Turkish Cypriot leader Mr. Eroglu announced to the Press his intention to propose intensification of the negotiations without having raised such an issue to his interlocutor during todays three-hours meeting.

The President of the Republic, who was informed about the issue from the Media, will discuss it with Mr. Eroglu at their next meeting which will take place in the framework of the direct negotiations on August 31, Stephanou concludes in his written statement.
