The Greek Cypriot side has formally submitted to the Committee on
Missing Persons (CMP) the files of 42 Greek Cypriots missing since
1963-64, Greek Cypriot CMP member Elias Georgiades has told CNA. The
files were submitted in 2009, Georgiades said.
Relatives of Greek Cypriot missing persons of the period 1963-64 have
said that the Turkish Cypriot side has been very slow in providing any
information to help ascertain the fate of their loved ones.
Meanwhile excavations continue at Parissinos area, in Nicosia, with a
view to exhume remains of Turkish Cypriots missing since 1963-64 who
according to information conveyed to the Committee were buried there.
With regard to the Greek Cypriots missing since the early 60s,
Georgiades said that excavations have already taken place twice at
Louroutzina village and Varosha, on the east, without any result and
that efforts to ascertain their fate have also been made at the
diplomatic level.
