[01] TRADE DEFICIT - INCREASE
Cyprus` trade deficit for the first five months of 2010 rose to 2.09
billion euro, compared to 1.92 billion euro in the corresponding period
of 2009, recording an increase of 176 million euro, according to
preliminary data released Monday by Cyprus Statistical Service.
Total imports/ arrivals in January - May 2010 reached 2.53 bln euro,
compared to 2.32 bln euro in January - May 2009. Total
exports/dispatches in January - May 2010 were 438 million euro,
compared to 402 mln euro in the corresponding period of 2009.
On the basis of preliminary estimates for Foreign Trade in May 2010,
Cyprus` trade deficit in May 2010 was 418 mln euro, compared to 396 mln
euro in May 2009, recording an increase of 22 mln euro.
