Presidential Commissioner George Iacovou has said that there is a delay as regards the implementation of the project for the opening of the Limnitis crossing point on the northwest, linking the remote Pyrgos area to Nicosia, through the Turkish occupied areas.

In statements after the conclusion of the second day of the National Council meeting, Iacovou said that the UN have informed him that new Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu has given his oral commitment that after the so called elections in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus, which took place April 18 2010, the project could begin.

Iacovou said that the government of Cyprus expects the Turkish side to abide by the agreement to open the crossing point.

We are in contact with the UN so that this project is implemented and we expect of course that Turkish Cypriots meet the agreement, which we have reached a long time ago, he said.

    [02] AEOLIAN PARK FOUNDATION STONE

The foundation stone for the second Aeolian Park of Cyprus, the construction of which will be concluded in 2011, was laid Tuesday.

Paschalides added that the park will contribute to a great extent to the production of energy through renewable energy sources.

Referring to the first Aeolian Park in Pafos, of a total power of 82MW, the Minister said it would soon be completed.
