[01] CYPRUS PRESIDENT - BRUSSELS - EUROPEAN COUNCIL
ิhe President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias arrived on
Wednesday in Brussels to take part in the Spring European Council to be
held on March 25 and 26.
During the Council, the leaders of the European Union are expected to
agree on the general framework of the Union`s new strategy for jobs and
growth, namely EU2020 strategy.
They will also review the efforts undertaken by the European Union and
its member states in order to address the current financial crisis.
The European Council will also hold a preliminary discussion on the
preparation of the G20 summit. In addition, the Council will assess the
state of work regarding the follow-up to the Copenhagen Conference on
climate change.
