[01] FM - TURKISH OFFICIALS - CYPRUS PROBLEMThe government appeared reserved towards the positions Turkeys Prime Minister and Turkish Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator with the EU have expressed recently with regard to Cyprus.Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou said that the government is monitoring with interest and caution these positions, adding that we will wait and see these positions to be formally put forward at the negotiating table during the ongoing Cyprus peace talks. Kyprianou also said the Republics accession agreement the EU cannot be renegotiated as regards issues of EU citizens working on the island, pointing out that EU nationals have the same rights as the citizens of every member state. [02] EIB VICE PRESIDENT - CYPRUS - OFFICIAL VISITPlutarchos Sakellaris, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, will pay an official visit to Cyprus from 7-8 March during which the EIB and the Cooperative Central Bank will sign an agreement providing for an EIB loan to sponsor SME in Cyprus.A Finance Ministry statement said Sakellaris and Finance Minister Charilaos Stavrakis, in his capacity as Governor of the EIB for Cyprus, will give a press conference on Monday to present the banks results and review its activities for Cyprus in 2009. [03] CYPRUS - INFLATIONThe rate of inflation for February 2010 increased to 2,9% from 2,4% in January 2010 and 0,7% in February 2009.The Consumer Price Index for February 2010, increased by 0,54 units or 0,49% to 110,92 units compared to 110,38 in January 2010. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of certain fresh vegetables, petroleum products, gas and medical care. Decreases have been recorded in the prices of certain clothing items.
