    Minister of Justice and Social Order Loucas Louca welcomed the initiative of the EU presidency and the European Commission to promote the EU`s accession to the European Convention of Human Rights.

    Addressing the EU Council of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs, which discussed the EU`s accession to the Convention, Louca pointed out the necessity for cooperation with the European Parliament in that direction.

    He also said it was necessary to take into consideration all the parameters and concerns, especially the protection of the particularity of the EU system and the autonomy of the Union`s court.

    [02] CTO - TOURISM - BRITAIN

    Cyprus Tourism Organization Chairman Alekos Orountiotis held on Thursday and Friday a series of meetings in London with most important UK tourist agents and airlines in the framework of the governments and CTO efforts to boost tourism in Cyprus.

    A CTO press release said that the meetings took place in a constructive spirit, aiming at Cyprus promotion as a tourist destination. As it is stated, the goal of the CTO is the increase of tourist arrivals from the UK.

    During the meetings, it was agreed that new flights would be launched by Easyjet and Jet 2 to Cyprus. Easyjet will begin to fly from April 14 from Bristol to Paphos four times a week while it will also conduct flights from Edimburg to Paphos twice a week. Jet2 will fly from New Castle to East Midlands from April 4 until October 31.
