[01] CYPRUS - PALESTINE - TOURISM - MoU
Cyprus and the Palestinian Authority have signed a Memorandum of
Cooperation in the field of tourism. The Memorandum was signed by
Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides and
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Palestinian National
Authority Dr Kholoud Daibes.
In statements after the meeting, Paschalides said that Cyprus will
offer technical support to Palestinians in the field of tourism, as
well as space at the Cyprus International Fair and the Travel Fair,
which is organised every year. During the meeting, he said, they
exchanged views on issues concerning the promotion of tourism in
Palestine.
In 2011, Paschalides noted, Cyprus will offer Palestinians various
scholarships and participation in tourist projects, in which other
foreigners and Cypriots participate. Such cooperation, he went on to
add, already exists with Egypt, Syria and other friendly countries in
the region.
In her statements, the Palestinian Minister said that they talked about
concrete action for this year and next year for training and sharing
experiences in the field of tourism. Palestinians, she said, in the
process of building their institutions and future state, would like to
share Cyprus` experiences in tourism. We consider tourism as one of the
main sectors to build the economy of Palestine and open Palestine and
its long history to the whole world, she added.
