    Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou reiterated on Friday that the Greek Cypriot side will continue negotiating for a principled solution to the Cyprus problem, adding that no serious and responsible analysis of the negotiations so far justifies the termination of the talks by the Greek Cypriot side.

    ``We are working with good will for a solution based on principles, we are making every effort and the President of the Republic, who is a serious and responsible negotiator, will continue this effort to reach a fair, under the circumstances, viable and functional solution,`` Stephanou said replying to question after a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

    He added ``if we terminate the negotiations, we will give Turkey and its communication tactics the best gift, namely to let it be considered as the country interested and working for a solution to the Cyprus problem.``

    [02] CYPRUS HAITI RELIEF

    The people of Cyprus are contributing to the world effort for the relief of Haiti, and apart from a government donation of one hundred thousand euro.

    A fund-raising for the relief of the people of Haiti affected by the terrible earthquake of 12 January will take place on Sunday in all churches.

    According to the official website of the Church of Cyprus, the money collected from the fund raising will be added to the contribution of the Church and will be sent to the stricken. In addition, the high school pupils Coordinating Committee will publish a calendar, dedicated to the people of Haiti, and has called on students, professors, administrators and all those comprising the scholar community to support this effort to raise money.

    [03] GERMANY ARCHEOLOGICAL EXHIBITION CYPRUS

    One of the greatest archeological exhibitions for Cyprus will take place in Hildesheim, Germany, under the auspices of President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

    According to an official announcement of the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum Hildesheim, the opening ceremony of the exhibition titled Cyprus, Island of Aphrodite, will take place on March 12, 2010. The exhibition will be open to the public for six months, until September 12, 2010.

    In an announcement, issued by the Museum, it is said that the government of Germany is sponsoring, with a significant amount of money, the exhibition, showing the appreciation towards the important role Cyprus played as birthplace of the European culture.
