US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reaffirmed the US support to
efforts of President of the Republic Demetris Christofias and Turkish
Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat to reach a settlement of the Cyprus
problem.
A State Department official, invited to comment on Clintons telephone
conversations with the leaders of the two communities, said the
Secretary called Cypriot President Demetris Christofias and Turkish
Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat to encourage progress in the
intensified negotiations being undertaken this month by the two
leaders.``
The official added that she reiterated that the United States continues
to support the parties efforts to reach a settlement.``
