The UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer
said on Friday that the proposals of Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali
Talat will be examined by the Greek Cypriot side and will be discussed
during the course of next week.
``I have had a very useful meeting and it is a regular meeting that we
have from time to time. I try to catch up with the party leaders and it
is an opportunity for us to talk about the Cyprus problem and the
negotiations and we particularly focused on the negotiations that will
be taking place next week and in an intensive phase. It has been very
useful and I appreciate the meeting,`` he said, after a meeting with
AKEL General Secretary Andros Kyprianou.
Asked if proposals put forward by Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali
Talat were a step forward, Downer said ``it is not for me to comment on
these proposals.``
