[01] HOUSE - RESOLUTION - CLIMATE CHANGE
Cyprus` House of Representatives expressed on Thursday its concern over
the effects of climate change, which according to the Cypriot
Parliament are especially visible in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In a resolution, adopted unanimously by its plenary, the Parliament
underlined Cyprus commitment to the goals set out by the European Union
to deal with this global challenge.
The House of Representatives noted the important role that the EU must
play at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, to take place
in December, and called for the intensification of efforts so that a
substantive and binding agreement is reached in Copenhagen to address
climate change.
This agreement must signal the beginning of a sustainable development
to the benefit of present and the future generations, the Parliament
added.
