[01] SPOKESMAN - CYPRUS QUESTION - POLITICAL EQUALITY
Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou has said that political
equality does not mean numerical equality, and noted UN relevant
resolutions, which include relevant references and refer to joint
communiques issued by Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and Turkish
Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat.
Invited to comment on statements by the Turkish Cypriot leader,
Stephanou said that when we are referring to the political equality we
also add as provided by the UN relevant resolutions adding that this
reference is included in the July 8 Agreement reached between former
Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet
Ali Talat, and the joint communiques issued by President Christofias
and Talat.
[02] CYPRIOT MEP - EPP GROUP - VICE PRESIDENT
Cypriot MEP Ioannis Kasoulides said he was honoured for being elected
on Tuesday as one of the vice presidents of the European Parliaments
European Peoples Party (EPP) Group, the biggest one after this months
Euro elections.
Kasoulides received the support of 121 MEPs out of the groups total of
264.
