Relations between the Republic of Cyprus and Poland are developing very well, Zbigniew Szymanski, the Polish Ambassador in Nicosia has said. Speaking after a meeting with the House President Marios Garoyian, Szymanski said that in the past couple of years of our joint accession to the European Union we have found additional things for closer cooperation. Szymanski referred to the Presidency of the European Union that is to be undertaken jointly by Cyprus, Poland and Denmark.

``Next month or during the October, the Foreign Ministers of Poland, Denmark and the Republic of Cyprus will meet here (Nicosia), to prepare our common efforts and common action, during the joint Presidency of the Union,`` he said. Szymanski stressed the close contacts between the leaders of Poland and Cyprus, and noted that his country is doing its best to keep this high level of relations between the leaders. We are looking forward to next year, for some high level visits by the President of the Republic and the President of the House of Representatives to Warsaw,`` Szymanski added.

Finally, Szymanski noted that a significant number of Polish people come to Cyprus, especially after the two countries accession to the EU in 2004, either for tourism or for employment. Problems have been resolved in cooperation with the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Labour, and the Chief of the Cyprus Police, he added.
