Anthony Smith, Director of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)
Directorate on European Political Affairs, which inter alia deals with
issues relating to Turkey and Cyprus, will pay a short visit to the
island ``to show his support`` to the current process for the
settlement of the Cyprus problem, a British High Commission spokesman
told CNA.
``He is coming over to show his support for the settlement process and
to hear for himself how that process is developing,`` Paul Lakin said,
speaking to CNA.
Smith will be arriving in Cyprus late Thursday afternoon and he will
remain here for a day. Lakin did not elaborate on Smith`s programme of
meetings, noting that this is being finalised.
