  • [01] EDUCATION MINISTER - 25TH MARCH

The basic values and principles of the United Nations and the European Union are the "safety valve" for a peaceful and viable Cyprus solution which will reunite the devided island and make the sun of peace, hope and justice rise again, Minister of Education Andreas Demetriou has said.

In his message on the occasion of the celebration of Greek Independence Day on March 25th, Demetriou also said that to break the Turkish intransigence and create the conditions to put an end to the occupation and to reunite Cyprus, all should join the righteous cause.

Referring to the anniversary he said "we must draw courage and strength from the example of the fighters of 1821 for the continuation of our cause to reunite our country", noting that the 25th of March commemorates the Greek rebellion against the Ottoman Empire.
