Nicosia remains Russias ally in efforts to safeguard international law on the issue of Kosovo, the 2007 report of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

It also notes that relations between Russia and Cyprus have allowed the discussion of delicate bilateral and international issues.

The partnership relations with Cyprus have allowed substantive discussions of delicate bilateral and international issues. The joint work to secure transparency in the flow of money from the island to Russia and vice versa continued, the report noted.

It added that the Cypriots have suggested to the European Union that Russian nationals are allowed to visit Cyprus without visa requirements, as was the case before Cyprus joined the EU in May 2004.

    [02] ISRAELI OFFICIAL - CYPRUS

A senior Israeli official has said he would communicate to Tel Aviv the concerns of Cypriot parliamentarians relating to activities by Israeli nationals in Turkish occupied Cyprus and to other political issues.

Israel`s State Controller and Ombudsman Micha Lindenstrauss met on Wednesday the Committee on Development Plans and Public Expenditure Control of the House of Representatives, pledging to convey to the Israeli Ambassador and the government the positions, views and concerns raised during the meeting regarding political issues, such as the operation of an office in Israel of the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime and the illegal exploitation of property in the occupied areas by Israelis.

Cypriot MPs Soteris Sampson, Christos Pourgourides, Antros Kyprianou, Zacharias Koulias and George Perdikis, in the presence of Cypriot Auditor General Chrystalla Yiorkatzi, raised political issues affecting relations between Cyprus and Israel, and called on Lindenstrauss to intervene.
