  • [01] COMMISSION GREEN LINE TRADE

Goods worth more than 700.000 Euro crossed the ``Green Line`` in January 2008. According to a press release issued Friday by the European Commission, this is the highest level recorded since the Green Line Regulation came into force when Cyprus joined the EU in May 2004.

The main component was Turkish Cypriot potatoes, worth about 350,000 Euro. Previously, the highest monthly figure was about 500,000 Euro in November last year.

The European Commission is about to propose to the Council technical amendments to this Regulation in order to further enhance trade across the ``Green Line``.
