Cyprus House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias has said
``the division is a disaster for the country and with it we will not
only lose forever half of our motherland but we will mortgage the
future of the other half.``
Addressing a students` gathering, Christofias pointed out that in this
difficult time of the Cyprus issue, when efforts were being made for
upgrading the illegal occupation regime ``we must insist on a solution
based on a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation, the only feasible solution
which can reunite our homeland and people.``
