[01] BRITAIN - CYPRUS PROBLEMBritish Prime Minister Gordon Brown referred on Tuesday to a window of opportunity for a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem, noting that the aim of London was a comprehensive settlement that would provide a better future for Cyprus and a better outcome in Europe as a whole.Replying to questions on the fundamental principles of British policy on the Cyprus problem, as he explained them to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a meeting in London, Brown said, ``I believe there is potentially a window of opportunity and that is what I was discussing with the Prime Minister about.`` Speaking at a press conference with Erdogan, Brown said ``we want a comprehensive solution to the problems that existed for so many years and we want the stalled UN talks moved forward.`` He added that ``our aim is a comprehensive settlement to these difficulties which will make possible a better life for Cyprus and of course will also make possible a better outcome in Europe as a whole.`` [02] INTER-RELIGIOUS CONFERENCEThe 21st Inter-Religious Conference, which took place in Naples, Italy, concluded its works on Tuesday by appointing the Church of Cyprus as the next host of the Meeting, in November 2008.Archbishop of the Church of Cyprus Chrysostomos II, who is in Naples for this year`s Conference, made every effort to secure the 22nd Inter-Religious Conference for Cyprus. [03] PAPADOPOULOS - SERVICE CENTREPresident of the Republic of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos inaugurated on Tuesday the fourth Citizens Service Centre in the area of Pelendri, reiterating the governments determination to continue offering better and quicker services to the public.The Citizens Service Centres have exceeded our expectations. Since the centre started operating in Nicosia in 2005, a total of 255.000 cases have been dealt with, which corresponds to 4.000 cases a day. Moreover, 117.000 people have been served on the telephone, the President said. So far, four Citizens Service Centres are operating in Cyprus, namely in Nicosia, Limassol, Polis Chrysochous and Pelendri. [04] RADIOMARATHONContributions to the 18th Radiomarathon, a two-day annual fund-raising charity event, have exceeded 1,600,000 Cyprus pounds (2,736,000 euros) so far.The 48-hour event in aid of children with special needs began on Monday morning and will close at midnight on Tuesday. This is the 18th time in a row Radiomarathon is organised by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CYBC) and Marfin Popular Bank.
