Cypriot shooter George Achilleos, leader of the Skeet world rankings, has secured the gold medal in the ISSF World Cup Final in Belgrade, Serbia, his second gold medal after wining the skeet final in the ISSF World Shooting Championships 2007, held in September in Cyprus.

Achilleos entered the match tied to Jan Sychra of the Czech Republic and Valeri Shomin of Russia with a qualification score of 122 targets, and 25 shots were not enough to decide a winner, since all of the three opponents completed the final round with a perfect score of 25 hits.

In the shoot off round which would determine the podium placements, Sychra finished second with a score of 147 + 23 and Achilleos first medal with 147 + 24. Shomin finished third with 147+5. Furthermore, Achilleos` teammates Antonis Nicolaides and Kyriacos Christoforou entered the final round as well, finishing fifth and sixth respectively.
