    Cyprus` 2004 Paralympics gold medalist Karolina Pelendritou broke the world record on Thursday in the 200-metre breaststroke, with 2:56:04, during the 3rd World Championships and Games in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

    The Cypriot champion, who won the gold medal in the discipline, broke the record of the games as well as the world record set by Spanish Deborah Fond in August 2003, who had clocked in at 2:56:96.
