[01] BRITISH ENVOY - CYPRUS - PROGRAMME
British Special Representative for Cyprus Joan Ryan said she was
currently holding consultations with officials of the British Foreign
Office in order to prepare a programme of meetings on Cyprus.
I will look to meet with as many Cypriot groups as possible, listening
to the issues of Cypriots and strengthening channels of communication
between Cypriot communities and the government, she told CNA.
[02] ARCHBISHOP - MISSING PERSONS - INITIATIVE
Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II called upon the people of Cyprus,
Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, to submit to the Committee on
Missing Persons any convincing evidence they may have regarding the
fate of persons declared as missing after the Turkish invasion of
1974.
In statements during a press conference, the Archbishop of the
autocephalous Orthodox Church of Cyprus said that he took the
initiative to address the Cypriot people and urge them to contribute to
the efforts aiming to ascertain the fate of the missing.
I took the initiative to address the people of Cyprus, Greek Cypriots
and Turkish Cypriots and appeal to those who have any reliable and
convincing information or have witnessed any incident regarding the
fate of the missing persons, to approach the Committee on Missing
Persons (CMP), thus contributing decisively to the enormous effort to
mitigate the pain of the relatives of the missing, he said.
