    US Embassy in Cyprus confirmed that the body found in the mountainous area of Orkonta, west of the capital Nicosia, belongs to US diplomat Thomas Mooney, who has been missing since last Thursday.

    After the notification of next of kin, the U.S. Ambassador Ronald L. Schlicher in a written statement announced that Mooney was found dead by Cypriot authorities on Monday.

    Schlicher adds that the cause of Mooneys death is being investigated, and any further information will be released as appropriate.

    The U.S. Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the extraordinary support the Cypriot authorities and the Cypriot people have provided in locating LTC Mooney.

    In light of these sad circumstances, the U.S. Embassy canceled the Independence Day reception that had been scheduled for the evening of July 2

    [02] BAGHDATIS - WIMBLEDON - FOURTH ROUND

    Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis, 16th in world Men Tennis ranking, has gone through to the fourth round of Wimbledon men`s singles.

    Baghdatis beat David Nalbandian from Argentina, 25th in world ranking, with 3 0 sets, 6 - 2 7 - 5 and 6 - 0.

    Baghdatis will now face the winner of the game between Russian Nikolay Davydenko, 4th in world ranking, and French Gael Monfils, 73rd in world ranking.
