[01] SPOKESMAN - ROTHEGovernment Spokesman Vassilis Palmas has expressed the Cypriot government`s disagreement with views voiced by German MEP Mechtild Rothe in a recent interview with daily ``Alithia``, regarding the policy of President Tassos Papadopoulos on the Cyprus problem.Commenting on the interview, Palmas said ``we disagree with Mrs. Rothe`s views`` and pointed out that so does the majority of the people of Cyprus. ``I think the democratic decisions of every people should be taken seriously into consideration by various political persons,`` whether in Cyprus or abroad, Palmas said and recognised Rothe`s right to express her views and the government`s right to disagree. Replying to questions, Palmas said that ``if in 2003 Mrs. Rothe had the Annan plan in mind, then she may have made a wrong evaluation with regard to the way things developed in 2004.`` Regarding her doubts that President Papadopoulos wants a solution, Palmas said the President has repeatedly proven his will and intention to create the circumstances that would lead to a settlement. [02] PAPADOPOULOS - CHRISTOFIASCypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos said on Tuesday that he enjoys mutual appreciation and close friendship with President of the House of Representatives and General Secretary of AKEL Demetris Christofias, with whom he has much to say on various issues, not only the forthcoming presidential elections.Asked about the agenda of his meeting on Wednesday with Christofias, President Papadopoulos said ``we do not have an agenda.`` Government Spokesman Vassilis Palmas, who announced Wednesday`s meeting, said President Papadopoulos and Christofias would be discussing various issues, in the framework of the meetings political party leaders have with the President. Replying to questions, Palmas said ``it will be a substantive discussion`` and that ``every meeting between the President of the Republic and the House President is always important.`` [03] GREECE - CYPRIOTS - CONGRESSCypriots living in Greece have expressed their wholehearted solidarity with the struggle of the Cyprus people for national and natural survival in their homeland.A resolution on Cyprus adopted by the 10th regular congress of the Federation of Greek Organizations in Greece (OKOE), which convened in Athens on May 26 and 27, said that Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot leadership continue their arrogant and intransigent behaviour with regard to a political settlement, something that culminated in their attempt to renege a UN brokered agreement last July, to pave the way for substantive negotiations.
