Excavations in Nicosia have unearthed human remains believed to belong
to Turkish Cypriots who vanished in 1964.
The Greek Cypriot member of the tripartite Committee on Missing Persons
(CMP) Elias Georgiades told CNA that around ten people are believed to
be buried in the area of Parissinos and work is progressing with the
utmost care, respect and sensitivity.
Argentinean forensics experts are heading the excavation which began
Tuesday with the participation of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot
scientists.
Georgiades said that the site has been appropriately prepared for the
exhumation which starts tomorrow. The remains will then be registered
and photographed before transferred, in special boxes, to the
anthropological laboratory.
