[01] PAPADOPOULOS - GEORGIADESCypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos has expressed deepest sorrow for the death of Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades.``I express deepest sorrow and great personal grief for the sudden death of Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades, a fine person with whom I was bound with a close friendship since our school years and for whom only pleasant memories I have,`` says President Papadopoulos in a written statement. President Papadopoulos says Georgiades ``had the smile of kindness and the diffusing power of sincerity" and "as a Minister he worked with zeal and creative passion for our education and culture, producing remarkable results and making an important contribution.`` ``I will remember him with ample of gratitude for all those he offered quietly, as a valuable partner in the Council of Ministers,`` Papadopoulos adds. ``His family lost a dedicated protector. I lost a dear friend, a faithful and worthy associate,`` President Papadopoulos concludes. [02] GEORGIADES - FUNERALThe funeral of Cyprus` Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades will take place on Thursday at 1430 local time (1230 GMT), at Panagia Evagelistria Church at Nicosia`s eastern suburb of Pallouriotissa.President Tassos Papadopoulos, a personal friend of Pefkios Georgiades, the Primate of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos, House of Rerpresentatives President Demetris Christofias, political party leaders and other officials will attend the funeral. The Council of Ministers will hold a special session under President Papadopoulos to honour Georgiades. The island`s parliament will observe a one-minute silence at the start of its weekly plenary session tomorrow afternoon. All schools in the free areas of the Republic will be closed on Thursday. [03] CYPRUS - LEBANON - AGREEMENTCypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs George Lillikas signed on Wednesday in Beirut an agreement for the Delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone between the Republic of Cyprus and Lebanon.During his one-day trip to Beirut the Cypriot minister held talks with Lebanese officials on issues of mutual interest. Meanwhile, the Cyprus Council of Ministers decided on Wednesday to grant Lebanon the sum of 100,000 Cyprus pounds (approximately 165,000 euros) in the context of the international conference for the financial support of the country.
