    Cyprus Foreign Minister George Lillikas flew Wednesday morning to Lebanon for a one day visit during which he will have bilateral contacts with Lebanese state officials.

    Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has confirmed Tuesday that Lillikas would visit Lebanon.

    Speaking to foreign media correspondents in Cyprus, during a lunch hosted by CNA in their honour, Papadopoulos responding to a question about the exploitation of natural gas deposits or and oil deposits at the sea of Cyprus, he said there is good cooperation with Egypt on the issue.

    [02] SEC - MARFIN - BID

    The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has called on Marfin Popular Bank to stop and withdraw its bid to takeover the Bank of Cyprus and Greeces Pireaus Bank.

    In a statement issued after a meeting of the Commission on Tuesday, which lasted well into the evening, the SEC said that with its actions, its statements and its public bids to the shareholders of the Bank of Cyprus and Bank of Pireaus, Marfin Popular Bank acted in violation of the relevant regulation.

    It also said that it took into consideration Marfin Popular Banks protests and the fact that its actions were not done in bad faith. The SEC imposed a ten thousand CYP fine on MPB.

    [03] TRUCK DRIVERS - STRIKE

    Truck drivers on the island have decided to continue their strike action on Wednesday for another 48 hours, as the economy is beginning to feel the effects of their protest.

    The decision was taken Tuesday night in a marathon meeting of the truck drivers association in Limassol.

    The truck drivers said the continuation of the strike is imperative, claiming the authorities have shown no willingness to solve their problems
