[01] CYPRUS - ARCHBISHOPRIC ELECTIONSThe process for the election of 1,400 special representatives in the first phase to elect a new Archbishop for the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus closed today without any particular problems, Yiannis Harilaou, in charge of the church election body, said today just after the polling stations closed.Harilaou said he was satisfied with the smooth voting process, noting that ``everything went well without any problems.`` Orthodox Christians in Cyprus went to the polls today, after 29 years, to elect 1,400 special representatives for the first phase of the process to elect a new Archbishop for the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus. The procedure will culminate in early November with the announcement of the new Archbishop. The contenders of the top post in the church hierarchy are the Bishop of Pafos Chrysostomos, the Bishop of Kition Chrysostomos, the Bishop of Limassol Athanasios and Kykkos Monastery Bishop Nikiforos. [02] ARCHBISHOPRIC ELECTIONSBetween 2200 and 2300 (1900 2000 GMT) tonight, results will be announced regarding the 1,400 special respresentatives in the first phase to elect a new Archbishop for the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus, said today Yiannis Harilaou, in charge of the church election body.Polling stations, which operate in churches, schools and church halls, closed at 1800 (1500 GMT) and right afterwards ballot boxes opened for the counting of votes. We assume that the results for the non refugees will be out between 2200 (1900 GMT) and 2300 (2000GMT) he said, adding that he was not able to predict the exact time for the rest of the results. [03] CYPRUS RALLY - LOEBFrenchman Sebastien Loeb continued to rewrite the history books by securing a record-breaking 28th WRC victory of his short career in the Cyprus Rally, round 12 of the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship, on Sunday.Partnered by Daniel Elena, Loeb moved ahead of arch rival Marcus Gronholm, from Finland, on the 14th sinuous gravel special stage in the Troodos foothills and the Paphos valleys and eventually reached the finish with a comfortable winning margin of 21.2 seconds. According to a press release, the victory, the Frenchman`s eighth of the season, virtually assures him a third WRC title in Turkey in a few weeks time and maintains the Kronos Total Citroen Team`s advantage over BP-Ford in the Manufacturers` series, albeit to a reduced advantage of just seven points, with four events still to run. ``Another great win for me,`` said Loeb. ``It was another difficult challenge here in Cyprus and Marcus pushed me very hard for two days.
