    Greece`s Foreign Minister Dora Bacoyiannis embarks today on a Middle East tour following the cease-fire agreement in Lebanon.

    Cyprus will be her first stop today. During her stay she will be received by President Tassos Papadopoulos where the two will have a working dinner.

    Bacoyiannis`s Middle East tour will also cover Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Territories.

    She will hold talks with her counterparts in the region and other government officials.

    [02] FOREIGN MINISTER - VISIT - LEBANON

    Cypriot Foreign Minister George Lillikas departs Thursday, 24 August, for Beirut at the invitation of Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, for consultations with the Lebanese government, Deputy Minister to the President and Government Spokesman Christodoulos Pashiardes has announced.

    Pashiardes also said that the Foreign Minister has sent a letter to his Finnish counterpart Erkki Tuomioja, whose country holds this semester`s EU Presidency, as well as to the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, in which he states that ``Cyprus places at the disposal of the EU and the UN its infrastructure for the transfer of humanitarian aid to Lebanon, as well as members and equipment of the UN Peacekeeping Force in the area.

    Moreover, the Republic of Cyprus offers to send two officers of its National Guard to Lebanon, to participate in the UN Peacekeeping Force, in accordance with the recent UN Security Council resolution, the Spokesman added.

    [03] CYPRUS - EASM CONGRESS

    Cyprus will play host to the 14th European Association for Sport Management (EASM) Congress, to be held in Nicosia between 6 and 9 September 2006.

    The Congress, co-organised by the Cyprus Sport Organisation and Intercollege, will attract researchers, scientists and practitioners from Europe and around the world.
