[01] FAMAGUSTA PETITION
A delegation of the Municipal Council of Turkish occupied Famagusta
led by Mayor Yiannakis Skordis called on the five permanent members of
the UN Security Council to exert all efforts so that the best possible
result is reached as soon as possible as regards a Cyprus settlement
and the return of the city to its rightful inhabitants.
In a petition handed to the Embassies of the US, Russia, China, France
and Britain, marking the 32nd anniversary of the Turkish invasion in
Cyprus, the Municipal Council also calls upon the international
community to take concerted action to achieve an immediate withdrawal
of the Turkish occupation troops and the illegal settlers imported from
Turkey, as well as the safe return of the 200,000 Greek Cypriot
refugees to their homes and properties.
[02] HOUSE PRESIDENT WISHES CASTRO
House President Demetris Christofias has sent to the Speaker of the
Peoples Power National Assembly of the Republic of Cuba Ricardo Álarcon
de Quesada a message for the quick recovery of Cuban President Fidel
Castro.
On behalf of all members of the House of Representatives and my self,
personally, I wish to express the warmest wishes for the quick recovery
of President Fidel Castro, as well as our sincere feelings of
solidarity, he notes in his message.
